Visit to the luthier David Wiedmer

On Monday 18th November a small group of FIBA members had the privilege of visiting David Wiedmer’s studio in Lyon to learn about how he designs and makes the world’s best violins. We learned how he interacts with world class soloists to produce their dream instrument and how much of his success comes down to the fine art of understanding and interpreting his client’s wishes which aren’t always clearly expressed in words. A fascinating insight into the world of music and master craftmanship.
