Visit of HRH the Prince of Wales
Visit of HRH Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall to Lyon on the 8th May 2018
FIBA was represented by Professor Colin McGuckin and the FIBA president Philip Last, along with other members of the British community and of course many Lyonnais who were keen to meet with the Royal family.

First we attended the VE day ceremony at the entrance of the Parc de la Tête d’Or, including a speech from Lyon’s relatively new mayor, Georges Képénékian, who many FIBA members will remember from our Cocktail de la Rentrée in 2016. He began his speech by quoting Sir Winston Churchill.
Then we were invited to move to the île aux Cygnes to await the arrival of Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Gérard Collomb, the Mayor Georges Képénékian, the leader of the Métropôle, David Kimmerfeld. And our Ambassador Lord Ed Llewelyn.
Wreaths were laid by all dignitaries accompanied by local school children. God Save the Queen and La Marseillaise were sung before the royal party met with representatives of the Royal British Legion, RAFA, the Consuls based in Lyon and members of FIBA and the British Community, a highly memorable 8th May!
