LES VOISINS – river cruise

This year’s Cocktail de la Rentrée, our traditional flagship event, was a little out of the ordinary!
2017’s event was co-organised by DIT (Department of International Trade) in Lyon, the Ambassador’s team in Paris and of course the FIBA committee.
Guests from Lyon and the region were invited to the Embarcadère and embarked on the “Officiel” to enjoy a cruise on the Saône on a balmy September evening.
Earlier in the day, the Ambassador debriefed the British community, many from the BCC and from FIBA, on the current Brexit negotiations, responding to a range of questions covering pensions, the government’s approach to the negotiations and the likely next steps.

The focus for this event was Les Voisins, an idea launched by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in March this year to celebrate the strong ties that bring French and Brits together…and have been doing so for centuries! The Ambassador, Oriel Petry and Philip Last welcomed our guests and we all enjoyed a film of Colin McGuckin, from CTI Biotech, one of Les Voisins newest recruits! The event was a great success, thanks to all at DIT and the team in Paris for helping to put this latest Cocktail together!
