July’s Business Lunch at the LYINC with Guillaume Ancel
The author of Rwanda – La Fin du Silence, Guillaume Ancel spoke about his controversial book, published recently, which re-opened the debate about France’s role in the genocide of 1994. Guillaume was an army officer posted in Rwanda and wrote about his first-hand experience during Opération Turquoise, which began on June 22nd 1994.
Guillaume’s account was thoroughly authentic, delivered in the 1st person and brought back to life a serious issue of French government going back almost 25 years. Guillaume is a first class presenter and speaker, talking without notes for over almost 60 minutes. The audience was spell-bound! As Anna from the Lyinc remarked afterwards: “it’s very rare that there is such silence among a group listening to a lunchtime speaker in France!”
Our thanks to Guillaume for such a captivating presentation and to Rachel Maury for suggesting a topic that opened FIBA members up to a different facet of French culture.
Wishing all FIBA members a very good summer, and see you all at the Cocktail de la Rentrée in September !
